  • AIMS

    The STAPS licence is a general licence for the first 3 semesters. Its main aim is to develop students' in-depth knowledge of Physical and Sports Activities (PSA) in their technical, institutional and scientific dimensions.

    The STAPS degree in Education and Motor Skills is a general degree over the first three semesters.

    From semester 4 onwards, the STAPS degree in Education and Motor Skills is designed to teach physical sports and artistic activities in the educational and school environment.

    In the 3rd year of the EM Licence, the student must choose a course of study:

    • Parcours Professeur des Collèges et Lycées (PCL)
    • Parcours Professeur des Ecoles (PE)

    The holder of this training leads and animates collective actions aiming at the practice of these activities with an educational goal. He/she carries out an activity of intervention in autonomy, ensuring the safety of the participants and third parties.

  • TARGETED STUDENTS

    This degree is intended for students interested in teaching in primary schools or in Physical and Sports Education in secondary schools;The aim of this course is to provide a general overview of the different types of education and training in the field of sports and physical education in Europe.

  • STRUCTURE AND ORGANISATION

    Semesters 1, 2 and 3 : common core.

    Semester 4  students choose the speciality; Education and Motor Skills.

    Semesters 5 and 6 : 2 choices of pathway possible :

    • Course Teacher of Colleges and High Schools (PCL)
    • Course Teacher of Schools (PE)

    Fundamental and methodological teaching courses, applied teaching, tutor projects and internship.

  • KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED

    All the dimensions of sport, technical, historical, psychological, sociological, physiological, biomedical, etc., are covered in order to build a solid and broad theoretical base (a foundation of knowledge) for future professionals. This multidisciplinary approach to knowledge constitutes a richness for the students in this field. One of the particularities of the STAPS degree is that it is anchored on three varied domains: the practical and theoretical coverage of numerous sports, a scientific and multidisciplinary university education and finally, a rapid immersion in a pre-professional situation.

  • INTERNSHIPS AND SUPERVISED PROJECTS

    During his Personal Professional Project, the student is accompanied and guided in the construction of his project.

    In licence 2, semester 4, the student will carry out an intervention internship lasting 10 weeks (in primary school for all students in the EM stream).

    In L3, the duration of the internship is equivalent to that of the academic year (2 times 12 weeks).

    In addition, in L2 and L3, the student invests in tutor projects in line with his or her professional project and the socio-economic demand.

  • FURTHER EDUCATION

    The holders of the Education and Motor Skills licence will be able to continue their studies as a priority in the Master of Teaching, Education and Training (Master MEEF).

    After selection at the end of the third year of the licence, the students will be able to continue their studies in the Master MEEF.

    After selection at the end of the third year of the licence, students can also enrol in the EOPS (Entraînement et Optimisation de la Performance Sportive) master's degree.

    An internship office helps students choose and find their internships. A network of former students is animated by a staff of the faculty. Three associations domiciled at the faculty also work for the integration of students.
